Community Services

Teaching the value of good communication skills

In-Home Services

The Elk Hill In-Home Program provides a combination of mental health services tailored to the specific needs of the children, teens and families in crisis. Services include:

  • Family relationship building
  • Parenting skills
  • Anger management
  • Communication skills training
  • Daily living skills
  • Crisis intervention
  • Licensed clinicians available to provide individual and family counseling

Intensive In-Home Services

Intensive In-Home Services is a Medicaid funded program that provides immediate, intensive in-home interventions to the child and family in an effort to develop, support and empower the family. The service focuses on stabilizing crisis, identifying areas in need of attention and helps to stabilize the family unit. The goal of the service is to solve problems with the context of the family rather then through placement outside the home. The Intensive In-Home Clinician works with the family to prevent out of home placement or to aid the family when a youth is returning to the home from such a placement. Interventions used:

  • Development of social skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Anger management
  • Utilizing community resources
  • Case management services
  • Medication management
  • 24 hour crisis response

Mental Health Support

The Mental Health Support program serves adolescents and adults, 16 and older, by providing training and support in developing functional living skills so that they can achieve and maintain community stability and independence in the least restrictive environment. The service provides training and/or reinforcement of:

  • Functional skills
  • Daily living skills
  • Health, nutrition and physical condition
  • Assistance with medical appointments
  • Assistance with medication management
  • Appropriate use of community resources

Therapeutic Mentoring

The Therapeutic Mentoring program provides mentoring services to clients age 4-21. This service connects children and adolescents with an adult Therapeutic Mentor who serves as a positive role model and provides activities that increase their participation and engagement in their community.

The mentor also provides support, coaching, training and supervision in developing communication skills, problem-solving skills, interpersonal skills, social skills, age-appropriate behaviors, constructive use of leisure time and resiliency skills.
