What makes us different?
Traditional fun for non-traditional campers
Our six-week program blends academics, therapy, and good old-fashioned play for 90 children at locations in Varina, Goochland, and Charlottesville.
We welcome children who can’t attend other camps because of their challenging needs and behaviors.
From autism and ADHD to anxiety and juvenile bipolar, our counselors are trained in what it takes to work with children with serious emotional and behavioral needs.
Literacy support prevents “the summer slide.”
Our literacy specialists work with campers to boost reading levels by an average of a grade level or more over the summer.
Counseling teaches friendship, communication, self-regulation, and anger management in fun, creative ways.
When this year’s campers write down “what I learned” at the end of the summer, they included “getting my self control,” “to control my anger,” and “how to have friends.”
Kids used to being labeled “needs help” learn to help others.
We emphasize giving back to others and the community with service learning activities like baking treats for furry friends at the SPCA and holding a LemonAID stand for cancer research.
We encourage campers to experience all the fun our community has to offer with weekly field trips.
Last year’s adventures included tree climbing with Riverside Outfitters, hiking the High Bridge Trail, watching a Squirrels Game, and much more!
